On Saturday I went to see Miranda July give a “masterclass” at the BFI London Film Festival. Miranda is one of my favourite artists and it was incredibly inspiring to have the chance to hear her speak. It was even more inspiring to know that she thinks exactly the same things as everyone else. My favourite quote was when she was talking about being scared to start her next project in case it didn’t work or no one liked it.
“I realised that everyone I admire has had to go on and produce the next thing and the next thing.”
I wrote down pages and pages of what she said, and I took so much away from hearing her talk for an hour or so. I started to write a huge post detailing how I related to each of the things that she said. But it wasn’t really going anywhere. And I think it’s much better if I just let you browse through a few of her quotes, and hopefully you will take something from her words too.

Wish I could read more of what she talked about! I love it when filmmakers come to my school for a master class, although I’m almost always never free to go to them.
